A projector might seem like a thing that illuminates light, however, it is used widely for several purposes. Also if you’re planning to buy one, it is as difficult as buying a new computer. The market is flooded with different models which makes it even tougher. You should have a clear idea of what you’re looking for before jumping to a conclusion. We have come up with some of the aspects which you consider before choosing the final product.
Size
Today, projectors are also available in several sizes starting from a tiny one to a large, entry-level to a high-end unit which are perfect for cinematic purposes. Large ones are used for presentations and small ones could be used anywhere because they can be fit into your pocket. You need to figure out which size will suit best with your requirements.
Where will I be using the projector?
If you have planned on installing the unit of projector in your office’s conference room, you should consider buying a large portable projector which could be mounted in the ceiling. If you’ll be moving it from room to room, then consider a medium size tabletop unit. If you’re an office-going person who would consider taking their projectors along for presentations, you should consider having a smaller one.
Throw
People overlook these details, however, the distance between a projector and a projection surface is extremely important. It is as important as size. Some projectors can throw an image from a distance however, there are only a few which can throw light from a distance of less than one meter. If you’re considering using the projector in close-nit surfaces you should go for a short-throw and ultra-throw model. There are some models which can project from all angles including non-flat surfaces.
Resolution
There is a whole lot of variety of resolutions available in the market ranging from XGA to WXGA, to 720p, 1080p, and 4K-UHD. However, you should start by choosing the purpose of your using the projector and in which location. If you are aiming at simple presentations with less number of people, a small screen WXGA would be the perfect option for you. If you want to display video content, it will be best suited for a 1080p projector whereas a 4KUHD is setting new trends in the category of monitors which has large screens and intense graphics.
Brightness
What kind of brightness one requires is dependent upon the projector you’re using and space you’re projecting it in. It should be a portable projector. If you want a lightweight and portable laptop whose brightness should be between 400-1000 lumens which are sufficient for small presentations ranging between 5-20 people.
3,000 lumens are sufficient for non-portable projection in typical indoor spaces. In bright places, just consider 4000-6000 lumens which receive more direct light. Even in the cases, when venue applications are large brightness can boost up to 18,000 lumens for a one-chip DLP projector.
Connectivity
Last but not the least, you need not forget about the sources you will be using and connecting them to the portable projector. An HDMI is one of the most common connections.
